Up to no good!

Aren't I cute? Yeah, I know. I'm the best child ever and I NEVER get into any trouble. I am a perfect angel.

Hmmm. That looks interesting. My mom went to change the laundry. I wonder what she would do if I explored that...

Hey look! I found my sister's toy! This might fit in there. I wonder what would happen if...

Oh no! She's back! Awww, man...caught in the act! Well I guess all I can do is smile. Maybe next time she changes the laundry I can get away with it...

Can you believe that? She really found that and was almost sticking it into the outlet when I came back in the room! Yeah. I bought outlet covers at Wal-Mart today and they are all in place now. Better luck next time, sweetie pie! This child hasn't even been mobile for 2 weeks yet but she's wasting NO time!

Sicky Mom

I just don't understand how my husband and four of my children, who go to a public school on a daily basis, escape the sickness...and I (yes, me...the homebody) do not. My theory is that they are around more germs and therefore immune to more germs. They bring it home on their coats, backpacks, hands, you name it, and then it's transferred to me. *sigh* Well, anyway I ended up with Strep last week. I felt kinda yucky Wednesday, and by Thursday I was miserable. So miserable I wished my mommy would come over and make me soft boiled eggs and take care of me. (Moms are the best at that.) Luckily and thankfully, I am the only one who got it. In fact, I'm still recovering. I've been on an antibiotic since Thursday night and I still feel like a pile-o-crap.

On a funny note, here's how my boys described my illness to my mother-in-law tonight:

Jaxon: Yeah, my mom's still sick. REALLY sick.

(P.S. I was sitting right there.)

Grandma: She's still REALLY sick?

Dallin: Yeah, she's so sick she hasn't even yelled at us today.

Grandma: She hasn't yelled at you ALL day? (And she winked at me.)

Dallin: Yup. She usually gets mad and runs downstairs yelling at us when we fight on Sundays. But her throat hurts so bad she didn't even yell today.

Haha. I love my kids. If there is one thing you can count on, it's telling the truth when it comes to tattling on me. Hopefully I can yell tomorrow. :)

Easy as 1,2,3!

Look what Emme can do! I love how she smiles afterward as if she's so proud of herself. :)

January. The bum month.

It seems like I have always found a reason to dislike January. It's just kind of a let-down after the holidays. When I was (much) younger, it was a new semester at school. That always made me nervous and I didn't ever like the switching of classes like a lot of others do. Then, when I was a little older, I just plain hated the cold. (Yes, January is the coldest month for St. George, OK?) Brrrr....

After Kirt and I had been married a few years, we lost a baby halfway through the pregnancy. He was supposed to be born in January. The 25th to be exact. And every year on January 25th, I hate January.

Another reason January used to be hard, was because we were living on one income and Kirt's December paycheck came about the 20th of December, but his January paycheck didn't come until Jaunary 31st. That stunk. Pure and simple.

And now? I'm cold, the heater upstairs isn't working (it's 62 degrees in here!) AND it's January. "Well," you say,"what's so bad about that?" No, I don't have to switch classes tomorrow, thankfully the basement's heater DOES work AND I now have my sweet Noah's birthday to celebrate on January 15th. Life is good. Except, (remember, I told you I could always find a reason NOT to like January?) for the phone.

The phone? Yes, the phone. Why? This is another crazy work month. Don't get me wrong. I am SO thankful for my job. Most days I really love it. BUT, this is a month where I "get" to talk to all 80 (yes, I said EIGHTY) of my students, review their learning plan with them AND complete report cards for all of them. KILLER MONTH.

You may not see blog posts this month. I'll apologize in advance. My house will be a wreck; don't come over unless you can deal with that. I will probably be mean and grumpy some days. In fact, all the things I LIKE to do, pretty much go out the window. No reading, no blogging, no piano playing... And so, I titled January - the bum month. But don't worry. I'm scheduling a massage for February 1st... and February is a good month.
